Learning how to manage your stress is critical to your cardiovascular health. HeartFit For Life offers classes and workshops that can help you.

Depression and anxiety are common among people with heart disease or who have had a heart attack or heart surgery. You may feel afraid to exercise on your own. You may not know if your symptoms should prevent you from leading an active lifestyle. Even though one in three adults in the United States have cardiovascular disease, you may feel alone.

The program feels really supportive. I’m not alone anymore. I’ve learned that heart failure is not a death sentence.

I really enjoyed coming to HeartFit For Life and what they taught me. They put me in a position to exercise every day, how to exercise and learn how to use the body God gave us. I was a late bloomer to exercise. I really enjoy exercising now and feel it has changed my life. It’s nice to know you are not alone when you are starting over and have the support of amazing staff at HeartFit For Life.

When I first came to HeartFit after my heart attack 15 years ago, I thought it was going to be all these old people. But on the first day, one of the guys – he’s now been in the program 33 years – came right to me and said, ‘’Don’t worry about being depressed. We’ll take care of you – we take care of each other here.

At HeartFit For Life, you will get emotional support from our caring staff and from your fellow members. Your care team is here to check with you if you have any questions or concerns. If you happen to miss several classes, you will get a call from us to see if everything is fine. You will be able to talk to others who experienced what you are going through.

Outside classes and educational workshops there are many opportunities for members to get together and support each other. It could be lunch with classmates, a group dinner at a local venue, or community events we participate in.
