Home 9 About Us

Considered as one of the leading cardiac rehabilitation and wellness programs in the nation, HeartFit For Life at the Cardiac Therapy Foundation has helped more than 5,000 members with cardiac disease and related health issues lead healthier, longer, and more vibrant lives.

The Cardiac Therapy Foundation was founded in 1970 as a non-profit organization by Stanford clinicians – Gary Fry, MD, and Kathy Berra, RN, NP, with a vision to be recognized as the leader in cardiac therapy and chronic disease management in the San Francisco Peninsula.

Our unique cardiac wellness program is medically supervised by specialized nurses, individualized to tailor to everyone’s specific needs and goals, and comprehensive with education on healthy lifestyle. With an expert and caring staff of cardiac nurses, exercise therapists, registered dieticians, and diabetes management specialists, HeartFit For Life is here to help you!

Our Objectives

  • To provide practical, up-to-date scientifically-based education and services to its participants;
  • To attract, train, and retain top-quality nursing, management, and support staff;
  • To provide quality services to its participants at a reasonable cost;
  • To communicate to the medical community, the media, and the general population the availability and effectiveness of our services;
  • To partner, on a very selective basis, with other non-profit organizations that provide synergy with our mission.

The Cardiac Therapy Foundation and now its HeartFit For Life program have been key factors in helping me maintain my overall health since my heart attack almost 25 years ago. I have been continuously attending for all those years and could not have maintained my health as well as I have without them.
